This year is no exception, and we’re back with a very special daffodil-inspired sculpture and competition prize to evoke the optimism and hopefulness of spring.
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning a piece of exclusive, British-made fine jewellery is answer a simple question (see below) by midnight on Monday 3rd February. If you are not sure of the answer, continue reading below for a very good hint!
The York Daffodil collection is one of our all-time bestsellers here at Bradley’s Jewellers York. Our owner, Kay Bradley, launched this selection of fine jewellery in 2022 with the aim of capturing the bright yellow blooms that fill York City Centre in springtime. Her UK-crafted designs are set with yellow and orange sapphires to lift the spirits and symbolise the spirit of optimism and new beginnings. Standout creations include the York Daffodil pendant, stud earrings and matching ring, which have proven to be popular wedding day choices for Yorkshire brides.
Kay Bradley says:
“The theme of this year’s York Ice Trail is ‘Origins’, focusing on York’s rich history. The daffodils that surround York Minster in the spring have inspired me for as long as I can remember, and I see them as a symbol of Yorkshire and its undeniable beauty. What better way to mark this year’s York Ice Trail than with a daffodil-inspired ice sculpture and competition? I can’t wait for you to see it.”
Although Kay is keeping the exact design of this year’s ice sculpture secret, you’ll be pleased to hear that one element is still the same… the surprise frozen inside! Each year, Kay chooses to freeze a special memento or piece of jewellery at the heart of the Bradley’s Jewellers York sculpture, which always prompts some close-up inspections from curious children (and some adults, too!).
“This year, I have frozen our competition prize in the ice sculpture,” Kay explains. “I have worked with the incredibly talented team of ice sculptors behind this great event to design a six-foot homage to my favourite flower, which has the botanical name Narcissus. I think anyone who looks upon it will feel uplifted, knowing that despite the cold, spring isn’t too far away!”
This year’s York Ice Trail competition prize is a Bradley’s Jewellers York Daffodil pendant, crafted in sterling silver, with petals of pear-shaped yellow sapphires surrounding a round brilliant-cut orange sapphire centre. This pendant and its complimentary chain are worth £1,000! Matching rings, earrings, brooches and bangles are also available should the winner wish to expand their York Daffodil collection in the future.
